Winter Webinar – Steven Morrison

February 17 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Steven Morrison

Quakers From Ireland and the British Isles to Colonial America

Ancestry believes that the US population has a 50/50 chance of finding at least one Quaker hiding in their family tree, if they had an ancestor in the mid-Atlantic region before 1780. Nice Odds. So that English sounding surname, dead-end line may be a Friend (Quaker!) Learn about the Society of Friends and how they migrated to colonial America.

Steven Waltz Morrison is a past-president of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Olympia Genealogical Society. He attained a Master’s degree from The Evergreen State College where he taught for seven years as an adjunct faculty. Quaker records are Steven’s area of expertise. In 2018 he coordinated a Quaker course at the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), in 2020 co-coordinated a virtual course for the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh(GRIP), and coordinated Discovering Quaker Records In the US and the British Isles at 2023 SLIG Fall Virtual. Presenter at a National Genealogical Society conference, Steven has addressed international audiences on Quaker topics at the Ulster American Heritage Symposium in Omagh, Ireland & Toronto, Canada, and the Yearly Meeting of Friends in Ireland. In 2016, the American Society of Genealogists awarded him their Scholar Award.

Recording available to members only.
