Feel like your mind is made of mud when you try to understand how to use DNA for genealogy purposes? No worries, you are not alone. This is a back-to-basics talk that breaks down the building blocks of autosomal DNA and genealogy research in easy-to-understand terms.
Biography:
Dr. Shannon Combs-Bennett QG, MSc, FSAScot, is an award-winning author who resides in Northern Virginia. From there, she writes and presents various topics across the US and internationally, from genetic genealogy to methodology techniques. Shannon is on the boards of directors of APG and the Guild of Genealogy Speakers, in addition to serving as a Trustee for ISBFHG. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology with an emphasis in genetics from Indiana University and her Master of Science in Genealogic, Heraldic, and Paleographic Studies from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Shannon is a doctoral candidate in History and Genealogical Studies at the University of Strathclyde, researching the correlations between genealogy and lineage societies in the United States.
